The Aviva Women’s Tour 2016 – one of the most high-profile races in international female cycling – is heading to South Derbyshire.
The Stage 4 Nottingham to Stoke-on-Trent route heads into the eight-mile South Derbyshire section on Saturday 18 June 2016, with a much-anticipated ‘sprint’ on the Hartshorne / Woodville section at around 11.40am.
Competitors will head along Hartshorne Road, Swadlincote Road and then Derby Road, passing Swadlincote Ski and Snowboard Centre at around 11.45am on Saturday 18 June 2016.
The riders then turn right into Church Street, left into Newhall Road and into Newhall along Union Road and High Street, before taking a right up Bretby Road and into Wood Lane.
Residents, visitors and businesses are invited to celebrate by lining the streets to welcome the athletes, while a free ‘come and try it’ cycle show at Swadlincote’s Eureka Park between 10.30am and 1.30pm on the day will feature a whole host of family friendly cycling-related activities, as well as a viewing point for the peloton.
