Last call for local sporting star nominations

7 September 2017

The South Derbyshire Sports Awards celebrate talented athletes and unsung heroes going above and beyond.

With the deadline of Friday 8 September 2017 looming, people are being encouraged to get their nominations in as soon as possible.

The awards celebrate the achievements and successes of those involved in sport in South Derbyshire at all levels and nominations are open for sport volunteers, dedicated coaches, community projects and talented athletes.

Councillor Jim Hewlett, chairman of Housing and Community Services at South Derbyshire District Council, said:

“The Sports Awards are always a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the talented sports stars we have in the District.

“If you know someone who is outstanding in their chosen sport, or a dedicated coach or volunteer doing something special behind the scenes, we would urge you to nominate them for an award and recognise their achievements.”

Those shortlisted will be invited to attend a celebratory awards evening at Pingle School in Swadlincote on 11 October 2017, with selected South Derbyshire winners to go through to the county-wide awards on 9 November 2017.

Nomination forms and details can be found at Derby Telegraph Sports Awards.
