The Elections Team is responsible for compiling information about recent and forthcoming elections, registering to vote and where to find your nearest polling station for South Derbyshire residents.
We organise all elections within the district, such as the election of district councillors, county councillors, parish councillors, MPs and MEPs and administering referendums.
Elections to the district are held every four years and are normally combined with parish council elections. The last district/parish elections were in May 2015.
County council elections are held every four years. The next county council elections will be held in 2017.
Parliamentary elections are held every five years, but an election can be called at any time before the five year term. The last parliamentary election was held in May 2015.
European parliamentary elections are held every five years.
You will be registered to vote if you have received information at your current address telling you that you are registered under the new system.
If you have registered yourself at your current address since 10 June 2014, and you have not moved home since then you will be registered to vote.
If you are unsure, you can check by coming in to the Civic Offices in Swadlincote or calling the Electoral Registration Office tel: 01283 595723 or 01283 595875.
Poll cards are delivered shortly before an election, informing everyone eligible to vote of the date of the election, where their polling station is and the hours of poll.
You don't need to take the poll card with you to be able to vote.
Comprehensive lists of the candidates standing for election are available in the related documents section of this page.
We'll bring you the results as they happen.
You can also follow us on Twitter at @SDDC, and follow all the action as it unfolds.
