Tenders and contracts

We are committed to take action, wherever possible, to ensure that our procurement decisions will have a positive impact on regeneration.

We aim to maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness through our procurement processes. However, we recognise that as a major buyer of goods and services, the decisions taken in awarding contracts can affect the local economy and our local communities. These effects can be positive, through increasing business and jobs amongst local suppliers, to negative, which might involve the loss of a contract by a local firm.

Therefore, we are committed to take action, wherever possible, to ensure that our procurement decisions will have a positive impact on regeneration.

To help achieve this, we are working towards:

  • Advertising all tender opportunities on the Source Derbyshire website (external link), where you can respond electronically.
  • Signing up to the national Small Business Concordat, a series of commitments that aim to increase the local regeneration impacts of procurement decisions.
  • Implementing the eight-point ‘Checklist for Action’ produced by the Chief Economic Development Officers Society.

Other business procurement opportunities

Alongside Source Derbyshire, business procurement opportunities can be found through services such as:

Contracts Finder which provides information on contract opportunities with the government and its agencies of £10,000+

Tender Alerting Service operated by operated by the Information Team, based at Derbyshire Chamber and Business Link, can help your business by undertaking searches and informing you of items of interest. Thousands of tenders and contracts awarded are issued daily throughout the European Union. These are from the utilities, public and energy sectors that, by law, must make available to all members of the Union contracts over certain monetary values. You select the type of information you require and the countries you are interested in and the Information Team will do the rest.
